Tonight’s games with Byers were part of a week long effort- Officials Against Cancer. Our area of officials had the goal of raising $3000, which typically comes in the form of donations from officials as well as from spectators at the games this week. Today’s crowd donated $550 to the cause! Big thank you to both Byers and Burlington spectators today, this is awesome! #CougarPride🐾

Burlington High School- Updated Tardy Policy

To more closely align our current tardy policy with workplace standards and fundamental life skills, the following criteria will be followed for the remainder of the Spring 2026 Semester. Although we encourage parents/guardians to communicate with the school office concerning late arrivals so that we can effectively track students, there is no longer a difference between excused or unexcused tardiness.
Students that return during a class period with a professional health care document (note) will NOT be counted as tardy.

Students will be held accountable for tardies with the following criteria:
-5 Tardies- Lunch Detention
-10 Tardies- Lunch Detention
-15 Tardies- In School Suspension and Parental/Guardian Contact
-20 Tardies- In School Suspension and Attendance Contract Required
-Every additional 5 tardies will result in ISS.
-The tardy count will restart every semester.
-Building/District administration has the right to override the policy based upon extenuating circumstances (medically verified leave, verified bereavement, etc.).

On School Board Appreciation Day, Burlington Elementary School celebrated our school board members with a morning filled with greetings, classroom visits, and breakfast conversations. Board members were welcomed by students at the front entrance, toured kindergarten and second grade classrooms, and joined first, third, and fourth grade students for breakfast. The BES Student Advisory and Leadership Team (SALT) hosted a recognition breakfast to thank board members for the time, care, and leadership they provide to our schools and community.

The visit offered board members a firsthand look at the students and staff who make Burlington Elementary a welcoming place. Mr. Kastner reflected on the experience, saying, “It was so fantastic to see kindergartners thank the board for their service. We talked about how they make important decisions, get paid nothing, and—my favorite part—that they’re Mr. Kastner’s boss’s bosses!”

Students were intentional in planning how to show their appreciation. As SALT sponsor Mrs. Meier shared, “When I asked students how we should thank our school board, their answer was immediate—‘Coffee! It’s how you say thank you.’” The simple idea captured the spirit of the morning: thoughtful, genuine, and student-led.

Thank you to our BES SALT students and sponsors Mrs. Meier and Mr. Munguia for hosting the celebration, and to our school board members for their continued dedication to our students, staff, and families. BMS and BHS student organizations also contributed thank-you posters, making it a district-wide show of appreciation. When students and leaders come together, our entire school community is stronger.

Dear Burlington School District Parents, Staff, and Community Members:

As you may know, the Board of Education has begun searching for our next superintendent of schools. The Board has engaged McPherson & Jacobson, a national school superintendent search firm, and former Colorado Superintendent Dr. Walt Cooper, to assist in finding the most qualified candidates available. As part of this important work, the Board has asked the firm to gather information and comments from stakeholders, so we would very much appreciate it if you would take just a few minutes to answer a few questions through an anonymous online survey. You can access the superintendent search survey by clicking this link. The survey will remain open through February 10, 2026.
