On Friday, Jan. 9, Burlington Elementary School will host a First Responder Appreciation Luncheon. Community first responders are invited to join BES students for lunch in the cafeteria at any of the following times:
11:00 a.m. – Kindergarten
11:25 a.m. – First Grade
11:30 a.m. – Second Grade
12:15 p.m. – Third Grade
12:20 p.m. – Fourth Grade
No RSVP is needed; first responders are welcome to join BES for lunch at any of the listed times. Thanks also to the event sponsor, Candice Schaal of State Farm Insurance, and our Student Accountability Leadership Team for organizing this event to recognize our local first responders.

We are excited to celebrate the growth and achievement of our Burlington Elementary students this semester! BES teachers have focused on improving our math growth, and our students have shown that this work is paying off. Burlington Elementary achieved its highest school-wide math growth in the past five years on MAPS assessments!
In reading, results from the DIBELS 8 assessment show that more than 50% of students made above-average or well above-average growth, reflecting strong progress. These outcomes reflect the hard work and resilience of staff and students throughout the semester. We are proud of our Cougars and excited to keep building this momentum next semester!

Today's JV Basketball games in Colby are canceled. Instead, we will travel to Goodland to play our JV games. JV Girls will play at 3:30 PM, JV boys to follow. We will dismiss the teams at 2:00 PM, bus will leave at 2:15 PM.
We are proud to celebrate our Burlington Elementary Citizenship Award winners! This past quarter, these students stood out for living our BES values of Caring, United, Brave, and Strong each day. Through their actions, words, and choices, they showed what it means to be positive leaders and caring members of our school community. Way to go, Cougars!

Luis took 5th. Jaymen and Cooper took 3rd. Daxton and Scout took 2nd. Jason and Anthony took 1st. Carlos and Bentley picked up their 1st HS wins. This was Jason’s first tournament title.
