Reminder for BMS Families: We’re excited to see you tonight, Wednesday, August 12, for 5th Grade Orientation and Back-to-School Night! 5th Grade Orientation will begin at 5:45 PM in the cafeteria. For students in grades 6-8, please arrive at 6:30 when the free hot dog dinner and Open House begin. All students will be able to pick up their schedules and locker assignments, visit their classrooms, meet staff, and tour the building.

BMS Families: Join us for 5th Grade Orientation & Back-to-School Night! We are excited to welcome students and families back to BMS on Wednesday, August 12! Please see the schedule below for what to expect during the evening.
5th Grade Families
5:45 PM – 5th Grade Orientation begins in the BMS Cafeteria
Students will:
Receive class schedules and locker assignments, learn important school expectations, procedures, and routines, meet teachers and staff, tour the building and classrooms, and have an opportunity to ask questions.
*Students are welcome to bring school supplies to place in their lockers.
6:30 PM – Free hot dog dinner will be served.
6th-8th Grade Families
6:30 PM – Join us for a free hot dog dinner.
Following dinner, students may: pick up their class schedule and locker assignment, tour the building and locate classrooms, and bring school supplies to place in lockers.
The evening will conclude at 7:30 PM. We can't wait to welcome everyone back and kick off another great school year at BMS! We’ll see you on August 12th!

Try your luck at our Mystery Paw Wall for just $2 per paw! Every paw is a winner! Prizes include candy, Cougar gear, school supplies, special school prizes and a few big surprise prizes! Students in grades 5-7 who are interested in joining BMS Student Council can also stop by the booth to pick up an application and learn more about getting involved.

The Burlington School District Re-6J Board of Education held a productive special meeting on August 4 to complete Phase V of the superintendent search process. Working collaboratively alongside Walt Cooper, superintendent search specialist for McPherson & Jacobson, the Board spent two and a half hours establishing a clear, unified vision and strategic direction for the upcoming school year. Through this deliberate planning session, the Board identified three foundational priorities for our district:
* building strong relationships and trust while growing school culture and pride
* actively addressing enrollment trends and student migration
* focusing on recruiting and retaining exceptional educators and staff
With these key goals now defined, our entire educational community has a strong roadmap to guide us as we work together toward continuous growth and success. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our board members - Darren Bennett, Grant James, Casey McDaniel, George Homm, Tara Penny, Craig Schaal, and Justin Carter - for their outstanding leadership, vision, and tireless commitment. Their hard work ensures that Burlington School District remains an extraordinary place for our students, teachers, staff, and administrators to thrive.
