Burlington High School averages 230 students (9-12) with a recently declining enrollment. There are 17 full time teachers and five part time. The average number of years of teaching experience is thirteen. 91% of the staff meets the state’s definition of Highly Qualified.

Extra Curricular Activities

Extra curricular activities are considered very important in the attempt to graduate well-rounded community members. The opportunities at BHS include: Drama, NHS, FBLA, FFA, StuCo, Spanish Club, Band, Football, Volleyball, Boys and Girls Golf, Wrestling, Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Track, Baseball, Cheerleading, Yearbook, Newspaper, and Youth Coalition.

 

 

Class of 2008 Profile

The Class of 2008 graduated 53 seniors on May 18, 2008. According to the ACT High School Local Profile Report; 53 students in the class of 2008 took the ACT mandated test (Spring 2007), which resulted in a composite score of 19.1.

38% of the class enrolled in a 4-year college or university; 23% in community or junior college; 13% in tech school and 26% entered the work force or were undecided at graduation.

 

CHSAA

Burlington is classified as 1A and 2A in various sports. This fall (2008), BHS received notification of All-Academic teams in football 1A, volleyball 2A and student government. The volleyball team was first in the state overall in Class 2A.
