   A Message From Mrs. Jones
My room is the library...you know, the center of the school! LOL :-)The library is the place to come for information and help- either in a book, on the computer, posters, bulletin board or other announcements, or by asking the librarian!

Daily Library Life

The library is open at 7:30 every morning and is open until at least 4pm after school everyday. It is open earlier or later when requested. It is also open during Activity Period and during lunch. All of these times are popular times to use the library because this is when students are allowed to check their email on the computers, or just hang out and visit with friends on our many couches.

What's On Those Shelves?

We have thousands of fiction and non-fiction books available on a wide variety of subjects, both for class research and reading for enjoyment.  Some of our books are in Spanish and there is a section of books for teacher reference.  We also borrow books for FREE from any library in the state through the Interlibrary Loan Program.

We also have about 50 magazine subscriptions, newspapers, videos & DVDs, book covers, school supplies such as markers, extra textbooks, book marks, maps, board games, classroom audio visual equipment to borrow, brochures from the Kit Carson County Health Department on a wide variety of teen related health issues, etc. etc. etc. available to check out or use.

EVENTS

To keep things exciting and to encourage students to come to the library more often, I have various contests. There might be trivia contests – questions either related to a holiday or the library, or a count the candy in the jar contest. The prizes range from the candy in the jar, of course, to a wide variety of school supplies or small fun toys.

During National Library Week, I usually have a 50% off deal on student fines. If they pay their fine during that week, I take off 50% of it. Also, if they turn in an overdue book, I reduce their fine by 50%.
